Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do veneers require teeth to be shaved down?

Veneers are chemically bonded and adhered to the underlying tooth structure, and as a result, only a very small amount of tooth needs to be removed to create space for the veneer. The amount of space required is generally 0.3-0.7mm.

  • Can porcelain veneers straighten crooked teeth?

Yes, porcelain veneers can help improve the appearance of slightly crooked teeth. They are more suitable for minor misalignments. However, for more severe cases, orthodontic treatments like braces or clear aligners might be recommended for better results.

  • What is the difference between a dental crown and a veneer?

A dental crown is needed when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or weakened. It covers the whole tooth like a cap, making it strong and protecting it. A veneer is used when the front of a tooth is chipped, discoloured, or not shaped how you want. It covers only the front part of the tooth to make it look better.

  • How long do veneers last?

Veneers can last around 10 to 15 years with good care. In some cases, they can even last longer if looked after really well. We advise you look after your veneers the same way you would your normal teeth: regular brushing and flossing and 6-monthly check ups!

  • What is the difference between porcelain and composite?

Porcelain veneers have the advantage of looking very natural and lasting a long time without staining. However, they can be pricey, require some enamel removal and take a while to create. On the other hand, composite bonding is faster and more affordable, and it usually doesn't need as much enamel removal. But it's not as durable as veneers, can stain over time, and might need occasional touch-ups. Your choice between the two will depend on your budget, preferences, and the condition of your teeth.

  • Can you keep my teeth looking natural?

Yes, absolutely! We are super passionate about natural aesthetics. The results of cosmetic dentistry are designed to look natural. We will consider your unique features and preferences to create a smile that blends seamlessly with your overall appearance, ensuring a natural and beautiful outcome. We will, however, always consider your preferences and make sure you are happy!
